Before I had no choice, but to have all my teeth surgically removed,I suffered through many toothaches. Severe pain,& my face so swolen,I looked deformed. The one thing that worked nearly every time, was peroxide. Put a small amount of peroxide in your mouth,& hold it in your mouth,on the affected tooth, for as long as possible, then spit it out,(do not swallow it). Do this several times a day. The bubbling of the peroxide, works it's way down to the root of the problem,(no,pun intended),& clears up the infection, almost like an antibiotic.Hope this works for you as well as it did for me.Good luck! Hi, I am hoping that one of these "homeremedies" helps you! I have had alot of use for these, unfortunately, and so these are "tried and true"...
#1) Clove oil-make sure that you use a cotton swab and get it only on the part of the tooth that is hurting. It does not taste pleasant, however it does work very well.
#2) Vanilla extract-the real kind, NOT imitation! Put on a cotton swab and hold it on the tooth. This works on the same principal as the drinking alcohol (real vanilla extract has alcohol in it)
#3) In the "web" of your hand-between your thumb and index finger-place a piece of ice and hold it there-works on the acupressure principal.
#4) Of course, orajel does work, and if you have that available then I would also recommend trying that, however, you can also use any of the above methods.
#5) Rinse your mouth with hot (as hot as can be tolerated) water and salt. Do this as often as possible, the hot salt water kills bacteria and will help get rid of any infection. Infection is the #1 reason for your pain-when the swelling goes away so will the pain.
PLEASE, remember, going to your dentist is the best way to get relief.
Toothaches are sometimes VERY dangerous-especially if they are in the front top teeth, as this area can cause the infection to go to the brain, and can potentially be fatal-not trying to scare you, but I wouldn't want you to be in danger either.
Good Luck, and I hope this will help you ease your pain!! Hugs!! Colleen

Try a whole clove soaked in vodka or other alcohol . Then place it next to the bad tooth and let it set there for as long as needed. the Clove also acts like a disenfectant and the Alcohol helps to numb it! Repeat as often as needed! Feel better soon! quote: Originally posted by Char 60: Any one know of home remedies for a toothache. I can't get into the Denist for awhile. I have tried peppermint oil, over the counter stuff. I have resorted to eating aspirins. Can't do that to long with burning a hole in my gums. Can't take any RXs because I don't digest pills.

After many weeks of suffering with a toothache I had to give in and have it pulled today! I didn't even realize the dentist had it out until he told me. I'm not a great one for dentist!
