Hello everyone, for some reason, my cat has been going potty on one of my stairs. It is only this one step and he will not quit unless i catch him in the act. I have tried everything at the stores that is supposed to detur a cat and/or get the smell out, but nothing has worked so far. Even though I cannot smell it after I steam clean I know that he can.... Help Please!

Hi, I have 2 cats and one urinates on the same spot also so I use Natures Miracle, you can get it at most pet stores, Amazon has good deals but do not get the orange scented it does not work, it comes in several forms and sizes, I get the gallon, its very easy to use and it works great, the only reason my cat still goes on the carpet is due to an ongoing problem with infections, and if you dont like it you can return it, Amazon is good about that, normal pet cleaning products you buy at the store do not work, but Natures Miracle breaks down the enzyme of the urine so the pet vannot smell it any more , they can smell things we cannot, you could even put it in your steam cleaner as well, have you changed litter or something? cats often reject change and will go in other places let me know how you make out good luck

Hi! I have cats, so I know how annoying it can be...
Has he just recently started doing this or has he always? I ask because sometimes when a cat has a urinary tract infection they will pee outside of their litterbox. The earlier post mentioned Natures Miracle. I too like that and I think it works well. You may also want to try a mixture of white vinegar and warm water (1 qt of water and 1/2 cup of vinegar). I've also read about putting aluminum foil down in the place they would go. I don't know if it's the noise or what it is that would keep them away.....but I guess it's worth a try :-) Good luck! there is some stuff you can get at the pet store called odor mute. It works pretty good but I found a better way to get rid of the odor. I use good ole white vinegar and pour it on the spot. Let it sit for about 1 hour then blot it up. To keep kitty from returning sprinkle with pepper. One sniff and she will stay away.

Hey I forgot to tell you if you get him fixed he won't want to mark his territory anymore.

My cat took to urinating on the sofas, the bed... anything soft when he was suffering from a particularly bad urinary tract infection. I tried all the manufactured products, none removed the smell. What finally did the trick was plain white vinegar. I sprayed it, slightly diluted, and let it air dry. It removed the smell from the fabric and stuffing, and deterred the cat from returning to the area. You will smell the vinegar orod for about a week, but a little Febreeze once everything is dry helps. Then, the smells go away and you are back to normal. Good luck, and please have kitty checked at the vet!

Try 8 oz of peroxide, 1 tsp of baking soda and 1 drop of liquid soap.
Pour on the spot and let dry. Do not store extra solution in a sealed container, it will explode. You can double the contents if you need more. |

I use a new product called Fresh & Clean. It's made by Oxy. It's great. Just spray and wipe. For tough stains let it sit for a couple minutes then wipe. It also has a fresh smell. Works great.

I have been using Hydrogen Peroxide for a few years now. It's great for getting cat urine oder and stains out. I just pour it on. It completely removes both the oder and the stain.
It's also good for getting blood stains out and other stains that are hard to remove. Plus it is very inexpensive. I keep several bottles on hand, which I buy at WalMart. |
