This should be an interesting post for me to watch also. Thanks for posting.
While in Menards (it's a large hardware store chain around here) I saw products made especially for this. It looks like you just add it to a wash load. Good Luck! |

If the clothes are white try bleach, if they color try color beach

There is a product made for this problem. It is called "Whink". It comes in a brown plastic bottle, with a white cap. Right on the front of the bottle it says Rust Stain Remover in bold white letters.
It is a 10 oz. bottle. I got mine in cleaning product aisle at tne grocery store. This a relatively inexpensive item in comparrison to the loss of your clothing! Good luck with this, it has never let me down and I have used it for about 20 years. A football coach is who told me about when my son soiled his white uniform pants in his equipment bag! |

Well ~ would you look at that ~ the last three members to respond to the question all signed up to join the Club Q & S on the same day! How about that! Is everyone as hurt as I am that there is no longer a print edition of our magazine? It feels like I have lost a friend that I've looked forward to seeing each week! Since I always look for the good in things, at least we will have our forum and website!

Hello,
This is my first post, so I hope it works. WHen I was a teenager, I hung my favorite 2-piece bathing suit over a fireplace screen. It got rust all over it and I cried for days! When I got home from the cottage, my mother soaked the spots with lemon juice and covered them in salt, rubbing it in. Then she set it out in the hot sun. The rust all came out! It was one of the first times, as a teenager, I thought my Mom had done something right. I think this works well for mold, as well. Good Luck! |

Do not use bleach. It will set the rust in more. I use the whink and it works wonderfully. Just be careful with delicate items.

Just another tip if you have hard water and have a well you can take a clorine tablet you would use in the pool and put it in the well not the real big tablets break one in half first and try that aslo cleans the well and pipes (do not drink the water ) let the water run a while and smell first ,wash the cars ,house and just let it run through the lines also would be great to do if you was going away for awhile then do it gives it time to realy clean
Also I was told to drop a silver dollar in your well but I'm not doing that |

The best product I have found to remove rust from clothes in mineral rich PA is called Super Iron Out and can be purchased in Wal-Mart. It especially works well on cotton whites. I only use white towels that always stay white by using this product in a 15 minute presoak in the washer filled with warm water.
