I just went to the "subscribe" section on this website and it said that this mag is no longer available. I guess it is folding up like a cheap suit!

From Hearst Magazine's Website Press Room here :

STATEMENT ON QUICK & SIMPLE

NEW YORK, July 1, 2008 — Hearst Magazines has made the decision to cease publication of the print version of our women's weekly Quick & Simple, effective with the July 29 issue, on newsstands July 21, and focus on its newly enhanced Web site. Since its launch in August 2005, the magazine has attracted a growing consumer base and excellent advertiser response. However, due to market conditions and significantly escalating paper costs, it has become increasingly challenging to produce a low-cost, low-priced weekly.

Quick & Simple’s revamped Web site (www.quickandsimple.com) offers useful tips, advice, information and recipes to time-pressed, value-conscious women across the country. It features a new design, better navigation, an extensive recipe finder, and deeper content, including new blogs, daily horoscopes, exclusive online coupons and expanded community.

We remain committed to introducing and acquiring print titles, investing in our established ones, and growing our new Digital Media unit, which now manages 23 Web sites and nine mobile sites.

Hi everyone:

I wanted to confirm what you've been talking about here: Quick & Simple magazine's July 29 issue will be its last.

The website will be living on, however, and I'll keep you posted as more decisions are made about what will be available to you here.

Everyone working at Quick & Simple magazine is, of course, very sad about this turn of events. The staff here has worked long and hard to produce the best possible magazine for readers like you. We all thank you and so much appreciate your loyalty -- we couldn't have made it for (almost) 3 years without you.

Hello Everyone, Now You See What Complaining
About Little Trivial Things Can Do. Maybe
If You Just Took Life The Way It Is Really
Meant To Be, ( One Day At A Time. )God Didn't
Say You Would Live In A Bed Of Roses On This
Earth, And Have Everything You Wanted. If
We Just Had Perfect Health,Without Pain And
Having To Take Medicines To Make It Through A
Day, That Would Mean Everything To Me And I'M
Sure Quiet A Few Other People Also.

I'M Not Trying To Be Ugly About This,
But This Is The Way Life Is.

Have A Blessed Day.

To the editor:
Why don't you make it into a monthly magazine instead? You could have 4 weeks worth of contests. It's really a shame that you are quitting publication. It could easy become a great monthly magazine. How does Woman's World do theirs weekly then? I hope you reconsider!!

Hi, now that Lori S mentioned the woman's world magazine, I did subscribe to that particular weekly. Then I found quick & simple and I changed my subscription to the better magazine. I also wonder how does woman's world put out a weekly all these years? As you may tell I am not happy about the magazine not publishing any longer. Just a thought on the subject. Thanks for letting me vent a little. Nighthawk

nighthawk, do one thing for me. If you have an older issue of Woman's World, compare it side by side with Quick & Simple. By that I mean, flip page by page with both magazines and tell me how many advertisements each has. I don't have a copy of Woman's World nor do I intend to purchase one. I remember looking at one some time ago and was amazed at how little content it had compared to ad's. This could have changed, I don't know. But for the most part, advertisers are what pay for a magazine. With the cost of printing and shipping, it would make sense to go to a monthly publication but how would the advertisers feel about that? Only the people at Hearst Magazine will know for certain. Maybe selling the rights just for the sake of subscriptions wasn't such a good idea after all. Just talking out loud on that comment.

Are there still going to be daily contests or are those going away with the magazine?

I just read this today and I am very sad about the magazine ending. I love the website and feel as if I have gotten to know quite a few people, and they have always been very helpful. However, I work, so I can't take my computer with me as I can take the magazine along for my break time or lunch time enjoyment. I will definitely miss Quick and Simple magazine. All the best to the writers, editors and photographers who have been involved in this magazine.

Queen Shari- I am receiving Woman's World (gift subscription from my kids) and I also subscribe to Q&S. I like them both for different reasons. I did what you requested nighthawk and found that there were just about the same amount of ads. And the same amount of pages. The 7/15 Q&S had 8 ads and the 7/21 Woman's World had 7. Confused
Soooo I am baffled as to WHY they are stopping publication. I, like everyone, am truly sad to see it end. No one seems to be answering any of our questions. If there is nothing we can do to change their minds, you'd think they could at least give us until the end of the summer!! This was awful short notice!! I just discovered the news yesterday and feel very cheated because I just discovered Q&S a few months ago! Frowner I feel they are still ironing out some things and that may be the delay in answering our questions. Confused
Maybe if enough people complain about the short notice, they may give us another month and stop publications the end of August. Who knows? It's worth a try. So to all who reads this and agree PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let them know how much we would love to get an extra month!!! That would be a nice compromise!! Wink

BRENDA PLEASE RESPOND WITH AN OPINION. LET US KNOW IF THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE AN OPTION!!!
