Have any of you banded together with friends or neighbors to do combined shopping at warehouse stores like Costco?

For example, perhaps each week a different member of your group hits the store to buy huge packages of, say, ground beef, when is then split up among all of you.

If you've tried something like this, we'd love to know about it!

Yes, my mom and I shop together. As we cruise through Costco, we select the items that we need, split the cost, and then divide up the items. Now we no longer need to shop on a weekly basis. Instead we go to Costco every 4-5 weeks to buy what we need. Food items that we are not going to eat right away, are stored in the freezer and cooked when needed.

Yes. I go to Costco about twice a month - and get lists from my friends - some of whom run daycare out of their homes, and have little time for shopping. We divide up the fruit, toilet paper, hamburger, etc. My friends likewise ask me what I need, and we all split the costs afterwards. Last trip I bought twelve beach towels for three families. It helps having a van !

I have a group of 5 people (combo of friends/family/neighbors) that shop together. We share membership cost, carpool together, and split products and costs together. For instance, I love the large bags of rice that come in the zippered burlap bags. At 40lbs, thats too much rice for me, but we will split it between 5 people, and I recycle the bag into a purse! Its great - we save, we bond, and we conserve energy too!
