When we started back to school after our Christmas break, January 7,2008, a few of the teachers and I started our walking get-togethers. We have been walking every day after school for six weeks now. We now have a group of four and plan to take the group outside when the weather allows. It is a great time to talk away our stress from the day of teaching our 5th and 6th grade students. We walk from 2-1/2 to 6-1/2 miles daily and I keep a record form that I copied from the Quick & Simple (January 8 & 15,2008 issue) article, "Walk Off Winter Weight!" I made extra copies for additional weeks and I note the miles and minutes walked. It is a great time to talk & walk and the time goes so quickly. I have lost 8 pounds so far and feel much more energetic. We have made a commitment to be there for each other at 3:30 every day. It is a wonderful way to exercise and increase friendships.
